Live Music in Marietta

Marietta is where the Metro Atlanta music circuit starts — and for good reason. The city has been building a live music culture for decades, and what you’ll find today is a mature, varied scene spread across the historic downtown square and the pockets of nightlife that have grown up around it. Ten venues across a range of formats means there’s almost always something happening on a Friday or Saturday, and often on weeknights too.

The Marietta Square is the gravitational center, and the Earl Smith Strand Theatre gives it its anchor credibility. A restored 1935 movie palace, the Strand hosts everything from touring tribute acts to original productions — the kind of venue that elevates the entire block around it. Hunt House adds another dimension: an intimate indoor-outdoor bar with regular acoustic and full-band sets in a setting that feels genuinely old Marietta.

The neighborhood bar circuit fills the rest of the week. Wing Cafe & Taphouse, Rusty Barrel, and Dixie Taverneach do live music in their own way — full band rock on weekends, solo acoustic on quieter nights, always with a crowd that’s actually there for the music.

For bigger shows, Marietta has two major outdoor venues. The Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre is a community-focused summer concert staple with a proper outdoor stage and a loyal local following. The Coca-Cola Roxy handles the highest tier — a theater-style indoor venue that pulls national touring acts with sound and sightlines that rival much larger markets. East Cobb Parkrounds things out with seasonal outdoor programming: lower-key, more community-focused, consistently part of the city’s live music fabric through spring and summer.

Marietta’s greatest strength is variety. Whether you want a nationally-known act at the Roxy, a Strand Theatre production, or just to walk down the Square and follow the sound of a guitar through an open door on a warm Saturday night, the city delivers. It’s also the most accessible music town on the circuit — right off I-75, with parking throughout the Square district.
