Alpharetta has the kind of live music scene that reflects the city’s broader character — high quality, thoughtfully curated, with a range that spans intimate jazz clubs to major amphitheater concerts. Fulton County’s most economically vibrant city has invested in culture alongside commerce, and the results show up in venues that punch well above their zip code.
The Velvet Noteis where Alpharetta’s music reputation was built, and it remains the city’s crown jewel. A purpose-built jazz and contemporary music listening room with impeccable acoustics and sightlines, it has hosted national jazz artists and touring acts that would be right at home in New York or Chicago. This is not background music — you book a table, you arrive on time, and you listen. For anyone serious about live music in North Georgia, The Velvet Note is a required visit and one of the few venues in the region that could hold its own in any market in the country.
On the outdoor end, the Ameris Bank Amphitheatreis Alpharetta’s connection to the national touring circuit — a 12,000-capacity venue that handles major acts across rock, country, pop, and beyond. It’s a proper arena-class facility with the amenity package and booking power to land shows that nothing else in the area can accommodate.
Between those two anchors, Alpharetta offers more approachable options for the typical Friday night. The Alpharetta Town Green has become a genuine community gathering point, with free outdoor concerts that make the mixed-use downtown feel designed for enjoyment, not just shopping. Brooke Street Park and Mercantile Social add programming along similar lines — the latter with a food hall-meets-outdoor-bar concept that fits the newer Alpharetta development aesthetic. Roaring Social rounds out the neighborhood bar end of the spectrum with a reliable live music calendar.
Alpharetta is best accessed via GA-400 North, with exits at Old Milton Parkway or Windward Parkway depending on your destination. Parking is ample throughout the downtown and Avalon-adjacent areas on most nights, though Amphitheatre show nights call for early arrival or a ride-share if you want a stress-free evening.
